GPS-S

Global Positioning System - Survey is a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) capability integrated with common engineer computing platform, that provides Engineer Teams with the capability to perform precision construction, topographic, and hydrographic surveys using signals from military and civilian Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).  The GPS-S system is pre-positioned to integrate Department of Defense (DoD) M-CODE and GPS 3.0 capabilities when these technologies become available.

Each GPS-S system consists of one reference station and two rover stations. The reference station receives and collects GPS data and processes and transmits real-time kinematic (RTK) and Local Area Differential GPS (LADGPS) corrections to support survey grade position, navigation, and timing (PNT) requirements to organic and federated systems.  The rover stations have the capability to receive and collect GPS data and receive and apply RTK and LADGPS corrections.

Major Features

  • Performs construction and topographic surveys with centimeter level precision.

  • Performs precise static surveys(worldwide)

  • Embedded radios that can operate in CONUS and OCONUS

  • Provides precise position & azimuth control

  • Covers long distances without optical line-of-sight.

  • Meets FAA standards for airfield surveys.

  • Perform Real-Time Kinematic surveys.

  • Interoperable with AISI (Army Line of Sight Optical Survey)

  • Exchanges industry standard design & data files

  • Open architecture to support M-Code

  • Support position location on the water and interoperates with all Army Dive team Equipment (Underwater Construction Set)

  • Interoperates with Instrument Set, Reconnaissance and Surveying (Common name: ENFIRE) leveraging industry standard commercial tools.

  • 6+ hours of standalone rechargeable battery life

  • M-Code compliant (FY22/23)

Benefits

  • Navigation: a single receiver can be used to navigate from point A to point B, similar to using a handheld GPS receiver like the Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR).

  • Precise Point Positioning: Precise Point Positioning is used to establish the precise coordinates of a point when high quality geodetic data is not available in the local area.

  • Static Differential Survey: Establishes the relative (differential) position(s) between a reference station and one or more rover stations.

  • RTK: survey grade, sub-centimeter accuracy and precision.

  • Kinematic Differential Survey. Enables GPS fix on the move.

  • Design Build: Seamlessly integrates with CAD products to support all design build mission.

  • Army Dive Team PNT: Support all Army Dive Team requirements for sub meter accuracy on the water
