U.S. ARMY GEOSPATIAL CENTER PARTNERS WITH USGS TO BUILD GEOPDF STATE COVERAGE DVDS

Published Aug. 23, 2011

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The U.S. Army Geospatial Center (AGC) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collaborated to create and disseminate a GeoPDF State Coverage DVD dataset recently.

The GeoPDF State Coverage DVD dataset is a collection of all available USGS-produced GeoPDF map sheets presented via an easy-to-use index map created by the AGC. GeoPDF products use the PDF format as the "container" for the maps, imagery and other geospatial data delivered to the end user via Adobe Reader. These datasets, which encompass all fifty states, three U.S. Territories [Guam, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands] and the District of Columbia, are available from the AGC for free to U.S. Army personnel and National Guard units. FEMA will also supply these datasets to their regional representatives and mobilization teams.

Datasets are available to Common Access Card (CAC) holders and may be ordered using the AGC’s Common Map Background data request form at http://www.agc.army.mil/cmb/request/cmbrequestForm.cfm. For more information about the AGC’s GeoPDF program, please visit http://www.agc.army.mil/fact_sheet/GeoPDF_Fact_Sheet.pdf or contact Mr. Ray Caputo, AGC GeoPDF Program Manager, at 703-428-6784.
