U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS CHART DISCREPANCY REPORTING SYSTEM

Published June 10, 2013

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Inland Electronic Navigational Chart (IENC) program encourages users of its IENC product to report potential electronic chart errors to its web-based Chart Discrepancy Reporting system.

New users can register for an account and begin submitting reports by following web links from the IENC program’s home page: http://www.agc.army.mil/Missions/Echarts/InlandElectronicNavigationalCharts.aspx, or by accessing a direct link to the page: https://ienc-report.usace.army.mil/Default.aspx

The Chart Discrepancy Reporting system allows members of the inland maritime community - professional mariners, recreational boaters, government maritime partners - to participate in the IENC program’s ongoing chart update cycle. Chart Discrepancy Reports enter directly into the quality control system, alerting IENC team members of a potential chart error immediately upon submission of a report.

Connecting mariners to the charts in this way affords the many skilled ‘eyes on the water’ a hand in assuring a quality product continues to be produced by the IENC team. Ultimately, this type of partnering increases the opportunity for safe navigation on our nation’s inland waterway system.
