Daniel Visone is the acting Director of the U.S. Army Geospatial Center (AGC) in Alexandria, Virginia, and serves as the Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) on the Army staff. In these roles, he leads and directs the development and integration of the Army Geospatial Enterprise (AGE) to enable systems within Programs of Record; lends Geospatial Intelligence expertise to develop and field tools for optimizing location data; and provides geospatial products, data, and training for an array of military operations.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Visone served as the Director for the Systems Acquisition & Support Directorate (SASD) for AGC. In that role, he was responsible for leading the group that provides GEOINT engineering and domain support to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Data, Engineering, and Software; Project Manager, Intelligence Systems & Analytics,; Project Director, Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities; and Product Manager Combat Terrain Information Systems under Program Manager, Terrestrial Sensors for the implementation of the Army Geospatial Enterprise.
A graduate of State University of New York at Buffalo, Mr. Visone completed an undergraduate degree in geography. He has attended Leadership for a Democratic Society, Federal Executive Institute, and many other Army training experiences. He has received numerous accolades for his professional work to include Director’s awards, Superior Civilian Service award and the De Fleury Medal.
Mr. Visone has honed a deep understanding of geospatial requirements by serving at nearly every echelon of leadership within the organization since the start of his career as a lead software engineer. He is also an active volunteer in his community. With over 43 dedicated years in Lions Club International, he has earned the Lions Club International President’s Leadership Medal, the Lions Club of Virginia Distinguished Humanitarian Award, the President’s Call to Service Award and is serving as the 2nd Vice District Governor for District 24L. For these extraordinary efforts in the realm of public service, Mr. Visone was awarded the 2023 Department of Defense Spirit of Service award on May 10, 2023.
Mr. Visone and his wife, Dorothy, have been married for 38 years and have 3 children: Danny (32), Jessica (29) and Nick (25).
