    George E. Newbury IV, a physical scientist with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) recently received three research and development(R&D) awards for his achievement during 2007. Newbury is the recipient of the Department of the Army R&D Achievement Award, the ERDC R&D Achievement Award and the TEC Award for Scientific and Technological Achievement.

    Immokalee resident Sgt. Sylvia F. Tumball re-enlisted for three more years in the Army in a ceremony conducted at the U.S. Army Topographic Engineer Center (TEC) recently. TEC is a research and development laboratory of the Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).
  • U.S. Army Topographic Engineering Center and ESRI Collaborate on Geospatial

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Topographic Engineering Center (ERDC-TEC), and Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) will collaborate to design and build innovative prototypes to demonstrate the next generation of geospatial technology in U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Battle Command applications. TEC and ESRI signed a cooperative research and development agreement for the project this month.

    Mr. Robert Burkhardt, director of the Army’s Topographic Engineering Center (TEC), received the Army’s Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service during an awards ceremony held at the Pentagon yesterday. This decoration is the highest Department of the Army honorary award granted by the Secretary of the Army.
  • ARMY APPOINTS SERVICE’S FIRST GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION

    Mr. Robert Burkhardt, director of the Engineer Research and Development Center’s Topographic Engineering Center, was recently appointed as the Army’s first Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) by Headquarters, Department of the Army’s Geospatial-Enterprise Governance Board.
  • Shannon receives Commander’s Award, recognition for IPET

    Brian Shannon, ERDC-TEC, recently received the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and was also recognized by the Interagency Performance Evaluation Task (IPET) Force for his participation in USACE’s efforts to assess the performance of the Southeast Louisiana Hurricane Protection Project following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
  • Caldwell receives Superior Civilian Service Award

    Douglas R. Caldwell, ERDC-TEC, recently received the Department of the Army’s Superior Civilian Service Award. Caldwell was cited for professionalism, technical excellence and leadership in geospatial information technology, related to the Joint- Geospatial Enterprise Services (J-GES) program and the Army’s Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program.
  • Juan A. Pérez receives Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal

    Juan A. Pérez recently received the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal from the Army Engineer Association on behalf of the Engineer Regiment. He was recognized for superior leadership and career contributions to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).

    Dr. Michael Izady and Dr. Bradford McGuinn, guest lecturers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dynamics of International Terrorism Global Issues Program I Seminars, will conduct the advanced seminar “Islam and Insurgency,” Oct. 30 to Nov. 2, at 8 a.m., at the Humphrey’s Engineer Center (Kingman Building in the McKenzie Hearing Room), Telegraph and Leaf Roads, Alexandria, Va. The event is hosted by the Engineer Research and Development Centers’ Topographic Engineering Center (ERDC-TEC) in Alexandria.
